Negotiating gender and career – the participants’ own experiences
This workshop builds on the presentation from 16 September and invites participants to reflect on their own experiences in shaping academic careers. Mik-Meyer will begin by summarizing key findings from her project "Gender and Career in Academia". These findings will serve as a starting point for discussion around the following key themes: 1) how academic excellence is defined, 2) the role of networks in creating opportunities, 3) the consequences of gaming strategies and 4) the recognition of service work in decisions about appointments and promotions.
The workshop is an in-person event. It will draw on Mik-Meyer’s four recent articles which willbe made available upon registration.
