Sommersesongen er i gang! Botanisk hage er i full blomst, og det yrer av liv og farger. Selfangsskuta MS Polstjerna har åpnet etter en lang vinter. Polarmuseet har utvida åpningstider og ved Norges arktiske universitetsmuseum er det rigget for sommeraktiviteter inne og ute. Flere av våre besøkssteder tilbyr ukentlige omvisninger. Vi er med andre ord klare for sesongen, og håper du legger turen til oss!

I verdens nordligste botaniske hage yrer det av liv døgnet rundt i sommermånedene når planter, insekter og mennesker fryder seg over årstiden.

Selfangsskuta MS Polstjerna ble bygd i 1949 og brukt i 33 fangstsesonger. Nå står den i glassmonter i Tromsø sentrum, og i sommersesongen kan du selv gå ombord og kjenne på ekte ishavsstemning i den originale innredninga.

Hva møtte fangstfolk og utforskere aller lengst mot nord? Polarmuseet forteller om ekspedisjoner, hverdagsliv og eventyr i Arktis fra 1600-tallet og fram til i dag.

The Botanical Garden is in full bloom, brimming with life and color. The sealing vessel MS Polstjerna has opened its doors after a long winter. The Polar Museum has extended its opening hours, and summer activities are set up both indoors and outdoors at The Arctic University Museum of Norway. Several of our visitor sites offer weekly guided tours. In other words – we’re ready for the season and hope you’ll come visit us!
In the world’s northernmost botanical garden, life is bustling around the clock during the summer months, as plants, insects, and people rejoice in the season.
Experience Arctic species and plants from alpine and cold regions all over the world
Play area for children
Café Hansine Hansen is open on weekends (Sat–Sun), offering coffee, waffles, ice cream, and similar treats for sale. On weekdays, the café is self-service, with a simpler selection of goods.
On Saturday, June 21, from 12–3 PM, we’ll host our popular annual market day, featuring a plant sale, guided tour, and more
Open 24/7, always free admission.

Follow Northern Norway’s history all the way back to the creation of the Earth, and get to know the nature and people of the North! At the museum on the southern tip of Tromsøya you will find:
Ten different exhibitions on a variety of themes
Guided tour every Wednesday at 1 PM: A Glimpse into Sámi Culture – Past and Present. Learn about both traditional Sámi ways of life and contemporary Sámi society, presented by our skilled educators. The tour is conducted in English.
A variety of indoor drop-in activities: quiz hunts, board games, and more
A beautiful outdoor area with forest, vibrant bird life, and large grassy lawns perfect for playing. In front of the main entrance, you’ll find badminton and other games available on sunny days, along with what may be the city’s most beautiful flower beds, designed by our talented gardeners.
Nordstjerna Museum Café is open from Saturday, June 21 (Please note: closed on Monday, June 23). Enjoy lunch dishes, baked goods, refreshing drinks (hot and cold), ice cream, and waffles. Every Wednesday at 4 PM, we host Summer Stage with Open Mic, where you can share a song, a poem, or whatever is on your heart. No museum ticket is required to visit the café.

MS Polstjerna was built in 1949 and served during 33 sealing seasons. Today, it is preserved in a glass display in the center of Tromsø. During the summer season, you can come aboard and experience the authentic Arctic sealer atmosphere through the vessel’s original interior.
Guided tours on Tuesdays (in Norwegian) and Thursdays (in English) at 1 PM. Step into the shoes of an Arctic sealer as we tell stories about life on board, hunting on the ice, and Tromsø’s long history with the Arctic seas. Tours are included in the entrance ticket.

What did trappers and explorers encounter in the farthest reaches of the North? The Polar Museum tells the story of Arctic expeditions, daily life, and daring adventures from the 1600s to the present day.
Permanent exhibitions focus on Arctic hunting and overwintering, Norwegian polar expeditions, and the cultural history of Svalbard.
Temporary exhibitions offer new perspectives on the polar regions and are created in collaboration with active research environments at UiT.
