Welcome to the Visual Intelligence Workshop on Foundation Models!

This workshop hosts leading researchers to examine how their theoretical foundations expose a paradox between statistical compression and semantic meaning, how emergent phenomena challenge conventional assumptions, and how evaluation practices continue to shape trustworthy foundation models.

The workshop will consist of three sessions:

  • Session 1 (13:00 - 14:00 CET): "The Compression Paradox: Why AI and Humans See the World Differently" by Assistant Professor at NYU Center for Data Science, Ravid Shwartz Ziv
  • Session 2 (14:00 - 15:00 CET): "From Benchmarks to Self-Judgment: Evaluating Foundation and Agentic Models in the Age of Trust" by Senior Researcher at Microsoft, Srishti Gautam
  • Session 3 (15:00 - 16:00 CET): "In Search of Hidden Talents: Emergence in Foundation Model" by PhD Candidate at University of Kentucky, Oscar Skean

Time: August 26th, 13:00 - 16:00 CET
Place: Online (Microsoft Teams)

The workshop is open for everyone. Well met!
