Populærvitenskapelig sammendrag av avhandlingen/ Summary of the thesis:

Breast cancer is the most diagnosed cancer among women, both in Norway and worldwide. It is a complex disease that requires accurate diagnosis to ensure the best possible treatment.
In this PhD thesis, I explored the use of artificial intelligence to analyze histopathological images of breast cancer. The goal was to develop computer tools that can help identify different types of breast cancer and measure the presence of specific immune cells linked to treatment response and survival.
I also reviewed available data sources to support future research in this field. By improving how we analyze breast cancer images, this work aims to support clinicians in making faster and more precise decisions, ultimately improving patient care.
