Ex Occidente Lux: Tolkien's New Mythology for the Western World

Visiting scholar Jan Kozak from Charles University in Prague gives a lecture on J.R.R. Tolkien's fictional mythology.

JRR Tolkien wanted to create a new mythology for England. In the end did create a new fictional mythology familiar to the whole Euroamerican civilization. In this lecture we will explore both the sources and inspirations of his creation, its themes and structures and its societal effects including ritual and religious activity of the true believers in the facticity of his mythos.
