Incoming exchange students: how to apply for housing

Housing for incoming exchange students is managed by a seperate organization called The Norwegian Arctic Student Welfare Organisation (Samskipnaden)
How to apply for single rooms at the Housing Office
After submitting your application for exchange studies in the Application Web (Søknadsweb), you must apply for housing without delay to reserve a single room with the Norwegian Arctic Student Welfare Organisation (Samskipnaden).
Please ensure the following when completing your housing application:
- Select the filter “International student”.
- Indicate the start date of your exchange at UiT and confirm that you are an exchange student.
- Choose at least three single room options when applying.

Note: You may cancel your reservation later if you decide not to accept your offer of admission.
Application deadlines:
- 31 May for the autumn semester (August - December).
- 30 October for the spring semester (January - June).
Important information
- It is your responsibility to carefully read and follow the requirements outlined on the Housing Office’s website: Samskipnaden | How to apply for student housing
- If you submit your housing application after the deadline, you will need to find accommodation on the private rental market.
- Please note that only single rooms are reserved for incoming exchange students. If you wish to apply for an apartment, we recommend searching in the private market, as we cannot guarantee apartment availability through the Housing Office.
