As part of Gender Awareness Week 2026 at UiT, we are hosting a special play session of the tabletop roleplaying game Dream Askew on March 12th at the Center for Women’s and Gender Research, UiT.
In the game Dream Askew, written by Avery Alder, players take on the roles of members of a queer community at the end of the world. The game deconstructs gender roles and invites players to create new ones. Players will have the opportunity to collaboratively decide the nature of the world and its scarcities and then shape their community’s responses to these pressures in the post-apocalypse. What gender identities are possible as the old society collapses? Through telling the story of their community, players will explore this question for themselves.
This play session of Dream Askew does not require familiarity with tabletop roleplaying games or the game itself. Play will be preceded by a short introduction to the rules, and players will then engage in small groups where every player has equal power and responsibility over the story that emerges. Guidance will be available during the play session.
The event will take place on March 12th, in the IFF and SKK Common Room (TEO Hus 1, 5th floor, room 1516) from 16:00 to 20:00. Sign up is required as we have limited availability of space. If you sign up and are unable to attend, please inform us so someone else can take over your slot.
The session is coordinated by Zoheb Mashiur, Paula Ryggvik Mikalsen og Holger Pötzsch.
Refreshments will be provided during the session.
All welcome!
