Presentation at the 2024 EUGLOH 5th Annual Student Research Conference

The University of Alcalá hosted the 5th EUGLOH Annual Student Research Conference in Alcalá, Spain from 17th to 19th December 2024. The event was open to all PhD students from all fields: Arts and Humanities, Sciences, Health Sciences, Social and Legal Sciences, and Engineering and Architecture to present their research work.

At the University of Alcalá in Spain, I presented the findings of an article my co-authors and I are working on,  titled, "Unpacking Service Coordination: Barriers, Strategies, and Insights from Norway and Spain." The study explores the challenges faced by frontline social workers in coordinating social and welfare services in Norway and Spain. Drawing on qualitative interviews and Michael Lipsky’s theory of street-level bureaucracy, the research highlights the impact of heavy workloads, bureaucratic hurdles, and organizational constraints on service delivery. The findings underscore the critical role of social workers in managing complex cases and suggest policy improvements to enhance service coordination in welfare systems.

Many thanks to Professor Walter Schönfelder and Professor Tatiana Casado de Staritzky for their collaboration so far.
