Narvik inspires!
The city of Narvik, located in Northern Norway, is located in the middle of steep mountains and deep fjords. Being above the Arctic circle, it enjoys the Midnight Sun from late May to mid July. The town of Narvik is also known for being the ice free port for the Kiruna and Malmberget iron mines, to which it is connected by a railway. It is also home to a campus of UiT The Arctic University of Norway that focuses on engineering, nursing, economics, and management studies.
Check out available tourist information for Narvik and also for the neighboring Lofoten archipelago, famous for its serene, magical landscapes.

Narvik is served by the Harstad/Narvik Airport, Evenes which is located 57 kilometres (35 mi) by road from Narvik and has regular flights to Oslo, Trondheim, Bodø, Tromsø and Andenes.
Before you travel. Since the connections between the Evenes airport and Narvik can be a little spotty, we recommend checking looking at shuttle and bus schedules already before you starting your trip. Plan for it to take about 30 minutes from the moment you land until you can leave the airport.
Airport shuttle. The airport shuttle FB82 is operated by Nor-Way; it costs around 340 NOK and the travel time is about 75 minutes. Evenes Airport serves Evenes, Harstad and Narvik cities, so you need to identify the Narvik shuttle. You must pay by card; they do not accept cash.
The shuttle makes a stop in front of the Scandic Hotel. For the Quality Hotel, you can stop at Scandic, and then the hotel is a 2-3 minute walk down the street Kongens gate. For other destinations, please use Google Maps or similar apps to find your way.
The touristic peak season is beginning, so we do recommend booking your shuttle in advance. If your flight comes on SAS or Norwegian, then we recommend buying a standard ticket, because the shuttle bus driver will generally wait for everyone to be ready on the bus. On the other hand, if you are coming with another airline (Lufthansa, etc.), it would be better to get a flexible ticket, just in case. The standard ticket can be rebooked up to one hour before the scheduled time, with a 39 NOK surcharge + cost difference. The flexible ticket can be rebooked up to 15 minutes before the scheduled time, and you may have to pay the difference in cost.
Regular bus. Buses 200 and 300 also connect the airport to the city and they cost only 98-111 NOK, but they run much less often. The easiest and cheapest way to buy a ticket is through the Reis App, which accepts cards. They do not accept cash.
If you take the bus, and you are staying at the Quality or Scandic Hotels, you should stop at station Bromsgård. Then head south directly down Kongens gate (the main street where you just got off the bus). You will be walking 7-8 minutes with the fjord/rail yard side on your right and the hillside on your left. It is a completely flat, straight shot down the sidewalk for about 650 meters. For other destinations, please use Google Maps or similar apps to find your way.
Taxi. Taxis are always available and the trip between Narvik and the airport costs around 1500-2000 NOK. It is better to book them in advance using Taxifix or 07550. Please be prepared to pay by card, as cash is seldom accepted.
Narvik is relatively small, so you can use Google Maps or a similar app to orient you if you would like to move around on foot.
If you prefer to leverage the city's public transportation, we recommend buying a 7-day bus pass using the Reis App, which gives you the lowest price available for all public transportation tickets. The app can also help you plan your trips within Narvik as it has a module that works like Google Maps.
While all lunches Monday-Friday will be served at the university canteen for conference participants, we leave here some suggestions of other places that may be helpful for example for dinner:
During the time of the conference, we expect the temperature to oscillate between 12 and 20 Celsius (between 54 and 68 Fahrenheit), with partly-cloudy skies and possibly some light rain from time to time. We suggest bringing a light jacket.
We have some accomodation information available.
